Okay, real talk! I never expected to be discussing “vibe coding” on a blog. I’m a designer. I think in color, layout, and flow. I love building experiences, not fiddling with databases or chasing down API errors.

But here I am—everything changed when Wix acquired Base44. Just like that, I transitioned from creating beautiful websites to building full-blown apps without becoming a full-stack developer. Wild, right?

What is Vibe Coding?

Vibe coding is design-driven development powered by AI. You simply write out what you want in everyday language—no syntax, no setup, and no need for Stack Overflow. The system handles the rest.

For example, you might say:

“Build a collaborative study tool where students can create topic pages, tag resources, and share notes—searchable and mobile-first.”

That’s not just a description; that’s a prompt. With Base44, that prompt transforms into a working product.

My First Big Test: Rebuilding CLASS.WIKI

Before Base44, I built a project called CLASS.WIKI—a study tool for students to organize and share academic content. It had a nice front end, but everything under the hood was cobbled together with Velo code, manual databases, and lots of duct tape.

Maintaining it became painful. Updates took forever, scaling was tricky, and custom feature requests meant diving back into backend spaghetti. So when Base44 entered my toolbox, I decided to give it a shot.

✨ Migrating CLASS.WIKI to Base44: What Happened Next

  • I re-prompted the entire structure: user authentication, resource tagging, and collaborative editing—all rebuilt in minutes using Base44’s natural language flow.

  • It spun up the backend logic, database schema, and even deployment infrastructure for me. No Firebase, no Zapier, and no half-broken workarounds.

  • I received a clean UI scaffold that I could customize fully in Wix Studio—my zone of genius.

The best part? I didn’t have to compromise on design or functionality. I got both, and it runs smoother than ever.

Why This is Huge for Designers Like Me

Before Base44, projects like CLASS.WIKI took weeks to get right. Now, it’s days—sometimes hours—because I can iterate instantly. I can tweak the logic, change the database structure, or redesign without breaking anything.

No waiting on developers. No tech debt dragging behind me. Just pure creation.

Base44 + Wix Studio = 💪

What’s truly awesome is how seamlessly Base44 integrates into our Wix ecosystem:

  • Build apps with Base44’s vibe coding engine.

  • Style and perfect them in Wix Studio.

  • Host and scale with Wix’s infrastructure.

For the first time, I feel like I can design the experience and own the build—without splitting it across multiple tools or people.

Can Designers Really Build Apps Now?

Yes! 100% yes. Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Talk to the AI like a teammate. Describe the logic, the vibe, and the purpose. It’ll figure out the pieces.

  • You’re still the creative lead. Base44 won’t design for you; it gives you the raw power to make your design real.

  • Use it to upgrade old projects. CLASS.WIKI wasn’t a new idea; it just needed a better foundation. Now it has one.

The Future of Design and Development

Designers have always had big ideas but often had to hand them off or scale them down. With Base44, we don’t have to choose between imagination and implementation anymore.

CLASS.WIKI was just my first move. Now, I’m thinking bigger—client tools, internal dashboards, interactive web apps. All powered by vibe coding and styled in Studio.

Honestly? I’ve never felt more in control of my ideas.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the integration of Base44 with Wix has opened up a world of possibilities for designers like me. We can now create, innovate, and bring our visions to life without the traditional barriers of web development.

So, if you’re a designer looking to expand your skill set and take control of your projects, I encourage you to explore vibe coding. It’s a game-changer, and I can’t wait to see what you create!
